My good friend Frank Odum wanted Black Citizens of Sumter County Ga to start a community Bank. So he preceded to go ask the local Black pastors to support him in the idea and none of them would. He told me, "none of them offered any support, what are they afraid of"? As I reflect on Frank's vision, I sympathized with him and tried to offer him comfort as a friend.

The Presidential election is the most active and cared about election, but is the one which has the least impact on voter's lives. While the president may be the figure head of our country, he has no true influence over our day to day lives. Your local elections are the true arenas where you wield your voting power.

In this day and time many people still can’t fathom the fact that RACISM IS ALIVE AND WELL. It’s in our communities, in our educational institutions, in the media and even in our workplace. Recently my 19-year-old daughter experienced her first real encounter with blatant racism.

I am currently working on my dissertation in order to obtain my Ph.D. and I need your help!  I am conducting anonymous surveys that look at African American family owned businesses, because I want to identify the rate at which African American businesses succeed or fail.

You See a Black owned business online or in your neighborhood and you want to show some support, but you have no need for their product or service or just can't afford to purchase anything. You go home feeling disappointed as you reminisce and wish that there was something you could do or that you had enough money to help out. Well believe it or not there are many ways to support Black owned businesses without spending a dime. If you can't give a business a sale you can always help get a business a sale. There are several ways to accomplish this and it all involves passing along information, and with today's technology it's easier than ever.

As I continue to live, my desire to chase seems to grow. I am getting faster and wiser as my skills improve and strategies are sharpened. I am curious enough to search high and low for it, and explore places that others have ignored to find it. Those places that they were too afraid to seek out because of the unknown.

There is something about changing lanes when you are on the freeway during rush hour. If it’s in the morning you are ready to get to your destination, and if it’s in the afternoon you are more than likely past ready to end your day and let your hair down. I’m more of an evening person ready for the day to end.  Whenever you drive there are times when like myself you get that feeling of frustration wanting to curse out the next driver, hunk your horn until it stops working or just simply give them the road rage scare.

Good ole India Arie playing in my background talking about getting things together on her “Voyage to India” cd. When listening to this great song I’m reminded to choose life in spite of any hurt that comes my way. I let out a big sigh with no tears…Let me take a deep breath before I share my voyage with you.

As a holistic doctor, I consider myself as a relatively healthy person. I eat better, exercise more, and am conscious about maintaining a balanced lifestyle.

I went to the doctor for my annual physical and my results were normal except for my vitamin D. To be more specific my vitamin D was at a dangerously low level. The picture below are my actual lab results for my vitamin D.
