Auntie Peaches

Auntie Peaches is a natural and organic herbal apothecary in Historic Springfield, Jacksonville, and it describes itself as the first African-American owned shop of its kind in the city.

The shelves are organized simply: herbs and spices, teas, and bath and body. Everything is built around botanical ingredients rather than synthetics, and the shop is set up as a neighborhood health resource as much as a store — a place to ask questions and get a straight answer about what you are buying.

The apothecary was founded by Dr. Eshanda James Iheukwumere Ezeribe, N.D., Ph.D., PSc.D., whose practice is rooted in Traditional African Medicine, an old-world system combining indigenous herbalism with an understanding of health as a balance between a person's social environment and their spiritual life. She is also a conflict analysis and resolution practitioner, which shapes how the shop approaches its work — the practice frames illness as a kind of intrapersonal conflict rather than an isolated symptom.
