BLK MKT Vintage is part vintage shop, part living archive of Black history. Founded in 2014 by partners Jannah Handy and Kiyanna Stewart, the Bed-Stuy business curates Black memorabilia and ephemera — vintage magazines and books, photographs, vinyl, advertising, protest material, art, furniture and home goods — with a careful eye for the everyday objects that tell the story of Black life in America.
The collection is sourced from estate sales, flea markets and family attics, and the owners have become known for reframing pieces that were once discarded as the cultural record they really are. Their work has been featured widely and their Marcus Garvey Boulevard space doubles as a gathering spot for the community.
Shopping hours can vary, so check online or call ahead before visiting. Whether you are furnishing a room, building a collection or looking for a gift with weight behind it, BLK MKT Vintage is a rare find.
