Buttah Skin was founded in 2018 by actor and singer Dorion Renaud, a Beaumont, Texas native now based in Los Angeles. He started the line after failing to find skincare that worked for melanin-rich skin anywhere outside a dermatologist's office. The range covers cleansers, serums, shea-butter moisturizers, facial oils, sunscreen and accessories, with the Skin-Transforming Kit as the signature set.
The company is Black-founded and women-led, and independent clinical testing reported improvements in skin brightness and tone evenness in melanin-rich skin. Buttah is stocked at Macy's, Bloomingdale's and the Beverly Center in Los Angeles, and also sells direct through its own site. The only address the company publishes is a corporate and fulfillment address in Fort Myers, Florida, which is a mailing location rather than a shop you can walk into, so orders go through the website or a retail partner.
