Cafe con Libros is an intersectional feminist bookstore and coffee shop on Prospect Place in Crown Heights, opened in 2017 by Kalima DeSuze, a social worker, activist and Army veteran. The shelves center women, women of color and queer writers across fiction, essays, poetry, history and an unusually strong children's section, and the staff are genuinely good at recommending.
The coffee bar serves espresso drinks, tea and pastries, and the small space runs book clubs, author events and community gatherings that have made it a neighborhood anchor rather than just a shop.
