Chelsea Paris is a Black-owned luxury footwear brand founded in 2012 by Nigerian-born designer Theresa Ebagua, who is based between Los Angeles and London. Ebagua left a career in tech to study footwear design at Ars Sutoria in Italy, and she named the brand after her daughters, Chelsea and Paris, after noticing how few Black women designers there were in luxury footwear.
The brand blends fine European craftsmanship with African-inspired colors, details and prints. Every pair is handmade by European artisans, and the brand uses eco-conscious practices including organic, cruelty-free dyes and glues. Signature styles include the Kira sandal, with a sculptural wedge heel and textured leather, the architectural Kels sandal, platform Mary Janes and modern Chelsea boots.
