Christopher John Rogers is one of the most celebrated young designers working in American fashion, and he does it from Brooklyn. Founded in 2016, the label is known for saturated color, dramatic volume and sharp tailoring — full-skirted gowns, striped suiting, statement blouses and trousers that are unmistakable on a red carpet or a city street.
Rogers won the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund in 2019 and the CFDA American Womenswear Designer of the Year award, and his clothes have been worn by Michelle Obama, Kamala Harris, Zendaya, Lizzo and Tracee Ellis Ross.
The brand sells through its own site and a list of stockists rather than a retail store, with collections released on its own schedule rather than the traditional fashion calendar. For anyone looking for occasion dressing with real point of view — or simply wanting to support a Black designer at the top of the field — this is a name to know.
