Coco and Breezy Eyewear was founded in 2009 by identical twin sisters Corianna 'Coco' and Brianna 'Breezy' Dotson, who moved from Minnesota to New York at 19 and started the line with $1,000 and a pair of safety goggles they studded and spiked by hand. The label has grown into a luxury sunglasses and optical eyewear brand built around unisex frames treated as wearable art, with individual frames named after members of the sisters' community. The glasses have been worn by Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Ciara and Nicki Minaj.
The business was self-funded, and the sisters later brought on co-founder Duane Baker, an architect, to handle sourcing and manufacturing. Both sisters are also working DJs, and the brand's distribution has expanded through independent optical shops in addition to its own online store.
The twins are now Los Angeles locals. Frames are sold online and through optical retailers, so prescription wearers can have lenses fitted as well as buy sunglasses off the shelf. Have a look at the current frames online.
