Team Mongoose BJJ

Build strength, confidence, and skill on the mats at Team Mongoose BJJ, a Black-owned Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and martial arts academy in Lawrenceville, Georgia, serving the greater Gwinnett County area. With a mission to motivate, inspire, and encourage students of all ages toward a healthier, more active life, Team Mongoose delivers "technical, superior jiu-jitsu" in a welcoming, community-first environment.

There's a program for every age and goal. Adults can train in co-ed BJJ classes six days a week, while kids grow through age-based programs — "Lil' Pups" (ages 5–7) and "Big Kids" (ages 8–15) — that build discipline and confidence, with bully prevention woven right in. The academy also offers submission grappling and judo, a competition team for those ready to test their skills, private lessons for personalized progress, and a summer camp to keep kids active and engaged. Need gear? They stock gis, no-gi equipment, apparel, and patches on-site.

As a Roberto Traven affiliate, Team Mongoose blends traditional and sport techniques under proven, high-level instruction — and the community has taken notice, naming them "Best of Gwinnett" every year from 2017 through 2022.
