When you were growing up, did you have any favorite books? Of those books, how many of the main characters were African American? If you’re like most, that number is small and maybe even zero. That fact alone is the inspiration behind Ellie’s Book Shop. Our mission is to tell stories that our little boys and girls will not only enjoy, but relate to on a deeper level. We believe that stories filled with adventure, imagination and creativity that are told through the lens of African American characters, instill a sense confidence, worth and belonging in our young readers – something that is invaluable in today’s world.
