HarperIman is a Black-owned, mother-and-daughter business founded by Cynthia and Kathryn, who describe becoming best friends and business partners along the way. They make handmade cloth and linen dolls representing children of color, with authentic skin tones and hair textures, and they started the business for a plain reason: dolls that reflected Black and brown children were scarce and poorly represented in the toy market.
The line includes handmade linen dolls, the Poppy and Scout collection, doll accessories and greeting cards. Each doll is a one-of-a-kind collectible, made by hand rather than produced in volume, and they are sold in limited pre-order drops, so the shop moves in waves rather than carrying constant stock.
