Ilé Ilà

Lagos, Lagos, Nigeria
Business Details

Ile Ila, Yoruba for House of Lines, was founded in 2017 by Nigerian architect Tosin Oshinowo, who also designed Lagos's Maryland Mall. The studio handcrafts contemporary African furniture in Lagos using West African hardwoods and vibrant Aso Oke textiles, so each piece carries both the joinery of a furniture workshop and the color of a textile tradition. Every chair design is given a culturally significant Yoruba name, and the collections include Adunni, the Line Chair series and the Arm Chair series, along with the Irorun table.

Custom orders are offered through a request form on the site, which suits buyers matching a piece to a particular room or cloth. The work is marketed under the MADEINNIGERIA banner and the studio ships internationally, so pieces made in Lagos regularly end up in homes far from it.

There is no published street address; the studio is reached by phone or through the site, with a separate inbox for press and partnerships. For anyone looking for furniture that is both contemporary and specifically African in its design language, this is a studio worth knowing. Get in touch about a piece or a custom order.
