Justice of the Pies is a Chicago bakery specializing in sweet and savory pies, quiches and tarts, founded by Maya-Camille Broussard. The name honors her late father, Stephen J. Broussard, a criminal defense attorney who called himself the Pie Master and believed everyone deserves a chance to reform.
That belief shapes the business: it is structured as an L3C, a low-profit limited liability company with a social mission, and in 2020 Broussard founded The Broussard Justice Foundation, a 501(c)(3) working on food security and health equity. Broussard has appeared on Netflix's Bake Squad and been featured on CBS Saturday Morning, and she is the author of the Justice of the Pies cookbook from Penguin Random House, which collects more than 85 recipes. The storefront and pickup location sits at 8655 S Blackstone Avenue in Chicago's Chatham and Burnside area, open Friday through Sunday from 9am to 5pm.
Pies ship nationwide through Goldbelly for anyone outside the city, and catering and wholesale requests are handled through a dedicated inbox. No phone number is published, so the website is the place to start. Order a pie or stop by the shop this weekend.
