krio skincare is a plant-based skincare and body care line founded at the end of 2019 by Tony Johnson, who built it around his Sierra Leonean heritage and the remedies his family used. At least one ingredient in every product is sourced from Sierra Leone: the Kono body butter, for instance, uses Sierra Leonean coffee beans infused with shea butter.
The formulas lean on Argan, Marula and Kalahari melon oils and are aimed at dryness, eczema and aging. The line is gender-neutral and formulated with people of color in mind while being made for all skin types, and it also includes a men's grooming kit with hair oil and beard butter. The brand has been featured in Esquire, the LA Times, New York Magazine's The Strategist and Men's Health, and is sold through Bespoke Post and Verishop as well as its own shop.
