Natty Garden

636 Washington Ave, Brooklyn 11238, New York, United States
Business Details

Natty Garden has been Brooklyn's neighborhood garden center since Glenroy Mahfood opened it in 2008 on Washington Avenue at the Prospect Heights and Crown Heights border. The nursery carries houseplants and outdoor plants, trees and shrubs, herbs, vegetables and seeds, along with pots and planters, soil, fertilizer, tools, pest control and plant care supplies — plus branded tees for regulars.

What keeps people coming back is the advice: staff will tell you honestly which plant survives your north-facing window and how often to water it, which is worth more than any care tag. A second location, Natty Garden II, operates on Marcus Garvey Boulevard in Bed-Stuy.

The shop sells online with delivery for customers who would rather not carry a fiddle-leaf fig on the subway. For a Black-owned garden shop that has kept Brooklyn green for well over a decade, Natty Garden is the spot.
