Neighborhood Fiber Co. is a hand-dyed yarn company founded in 2006 by Karida Collins in Washington, DC, and based in Baltimore, Maryland since 2011. In 2025 the company moved into a new studio in Baltimore's Station North Arts and Entertainment District and marked twenty years in business.
The colorways are named after and inspired by urban neighborhoods and landscapes, which gives the line a sense of place that knitters and crocheters tend to remember long after a skein is used up. The range covers hand-dyed yarn in fingering, sock, sport, DK and worsted weights, along with needles, hooks, notions and apparel, so a whole project can be put together in one order.
The dye studio is a working production space and is not open to the public, so this is an online business rather than a walk-in shop, and orders are placed through the website. For anyone looking for small-batch yarn with consistent color work and a long track record behind it, this is a Black-owned company that was dyeing well before hand-dyed yarn became easy to find. Browse the current colorways and place an order online.
