NiLu is a gift shop and lifestyle brand on Malcolm X Boulevard (Lenox Avenue) at 120th Street in Harlem's Mount Morris Park Historic District. Founder Katrina Parris opened NiLu in 2015 with her husband, and the shop's name combines the names of their sons, Nigel and Luke. It began as a flower shop and grew into a community-minded gift store.
The shelves are filled with accessories, gifts, home accents, art and music, with an emphasis on local Harlem artists and Black- and women-owned brands. Shoppers have found products from makers such as Sheila Bridges, Adjourn Teahouse and Harlem Candle Company. NiLu also hosts in-store events, including shop-and-sips, trunk shows and holiday gatherings, and connects with customers through Instagram.
The store is open Tuesday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and also sells online.
Whether you need a hostess gift, something for your home or a keepsake that captures the spirit of Harlem, NiLu is a welcoming neighborhood stop.
