Chanel Ricks is a self taught artist based in Windermere, FL. Inspiration from her art is derived from her desire to want to bring positive images of Black women and Black womanhood. As a self-identified Black feminist, Chanel uses her knowledge to bring forth a space where Black women are placed in the center of afrofuturism. Features of her artwork include the medium of acrylic, usage of eyes, and extraterrestrial landscape.
