People of Color Beauty is a nail polish line founded in May 2019 by Jacqueline 'Jacque' Carrington, a mother of three who left her corporate job to build it. The lacquers are 10-free, non-toxic, vegan and cruelty-free, and they are formulated so that the shades complement brown skin as the starting point rather than an afterthought. The collections are built around culture and history: 'For the Culture' carries shades like Around the Way Girl and Soul Glo, a Queen collection honors historical queens, and the 'In the Nude' range offers five true nudes for different skin tones.
Alongside the polishes the brand sells base and top coats plus nail care, and it retails through Urban Outfitters, Beautylish and independent Black-owned boutiques as well as its own site. Essence Magazine featured the line in its October 2019 issue, early in the brand's life.
