Reparations Club is a concept bookshop and creative space in South Central Los Angeles, trading as Rep Club and describing itself as Curated by Blackness. The shop is independently Black-owned, woman-owned and LGBTQ-owned, and was founded by Jazzi McGilbert.
Shelves cover fiction and non-fiction, romance, science fiction and fantasy, LGBTQIA+ titles, children's books, poetry and art books, with a clear point of view behind the selection rather than a wall of bestsellers. Alongside the books it sells audiobooks, gift cards, signed copies and merchandise including totes, book lights and scarves, which makes it a practical stop for gifts as well as for reading. The shop hosts author events in the space, so it works as a place to hear writers talk as much as a place to buy what they wrote.
Orders can also be placed online, and the short domain rep.club points to the same storefront, so readers outside Los Angeles can shop the same catalog. If you are looking for a bookstore with an editorial voice and a community around it, visit the shop on South Victoria Avenue or browse the catalog online.
