Silked is a Black-owned silk sleep and beauty brand founded by two friends, Phoenix Gonzalez and Sandra McCurdy, who describe themselves on the site as Afro Caribbean besties in business. Silked LLC trades as SilkedCo and is based in North Hollywood, California, in the Los Angeles area. The brand is best known for the Silked silk pillow sleeve, a slip-on sleeve that turns a pillow you already own into a silk one, made to reduce hair breakage and sleep creases without swapping out the whole pillowcase.
The rest of the range covers silk and satin pillow sleeves, eye masks, travel pillows, kimonos, loungewear, clean beauty products, silk accessories and gift cards. The business is online-only: there is no retail location, and everything sells direct through its own store.
One practical note, the web address has changed, and silked.com now redirects to silked.co, which is the live shop. Silked was featured in New York Magazine's Strategist roundup of Black-owned home decor businesses in 2020, and the brand posts on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest and YouTube as silkedco.
