Slather is a Black-owned skincare line built around a gap most brands never think about: nut allergies.

Walk down the body butter aisle and you will find shea, almond, argan, macadamia — wonderful ingredients, and off the table entirely for a family managing a nut allergy. The founder, a mother looking for something rich enough to actually work and safe enough to use on her own household, could not find it. So she made it.

The result is a handcrafted mix of nut-free butters and oils, whipped into a texture that sinks in rather than sitting on top of the skin. The line includes whipped body butters in scents like Silken Aura, Velvet Orchard and Honeyed Belle, plus a nourishing body oil.

Because the formulas skip the usual nut-derived ingredients, they work for a broader range of people than most body butters do — families with allergies, yes, but also anyone with skin that reacts to the standard blend.

Slather is based in Columbia, Maryland, and ships nationwide. Batches are small and products sell out, so it is worth checking back if something you want is unavailable.
