The Spice Suite is a spice shop in Washington, DC, offering spices, seasoning blends, infused oils, sugars and other pantry goods for home cooks. Shoppers can explore bold flavors, pick up gifts and get ideas for what to cook next.
The shop was founded by Angel Gregorio, a former DC public school assistant principal. In 2015 she noticed a for-lease sign on a vacant storefront in the Takoma neighborhood and opened The Spice Suite there. The business grew a loyal following and drew national attention, including a collaboration with singer Kelis.
After outgrowing the Takoma space, Gregorio bought a strip mall at 2201 Channing Street NE in December 2021 and created Black + Forth, a plaza for Black-owned businesses and pop-ups. The Spice Suite now operates there alongside other entrepreneurs she supports.
Visit the store in Northeast DC or shop online. Posted hours are Thursday 12 to 5 p.m., Friday and Saturday 12 to 6 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
