First off she is Black, second she's is woman, third she was educated at a Historically Black College or HBCU for short, these were some details that defined her. So imagine her hurdles as a business owner in the late seventies when a white male was the leading image for business ownership.
Black Planet is a social networking platform which was born in 2001. It was very popular among Black and African Americans as it was a platform which, as the name suggests, almost exclusively marketed to people of color. Black Planet was the first major social network that actually gave its users the freedom to be creative, allowed them to connect and engage with people socially.
Gucci has become the latest designer to upset the masses of black people with it's latest apparel. About a year ago or so it was H&M who had blacks in an rage when displaying an ad with a little black child in a garment which had referenced a monkey on the front of it.
